Holy Spirit

The Person of the Holy Spirit - David Breed

What the bible says.

In the next few minutes we will establish to you that the Holy Spirit is a real person and the third person of the God Head.

1 John 5:7-8 (KJV) 7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. 8 And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.

The bible has a lot to say about the Trinity. The hebrew word for God is a uniplural noun, such as the words for family and team. This noun states that there is more than one person represented. This is important to know. Now that you know that let us take a closer look at a few scriptures where the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are at the same place at the same time.

Matthew 3:16-17(KJV) 16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: 17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

This shows all three persons working together. Lets look at another scripture.

Acts 10:38 (KJV) 38 How God (The Father) anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God (The Father) was with him.

Jesus talked a lot about the Holy Spirit. Remember, Jesus knows the Holy Spirit as a person.

Luke 4:18-19 (KJV) 18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, 19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

Jesus talked to the disciples about the Holy Spirit. Jesus told them He was coming, He was a real person and called the Holy Spirit a person, a HIM, and not an it.

John 14: 16-17 (KJV) 16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; 17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

Jesus said the words HE and HIM 5 times in 2 sentences. I believe Jesus wanted to get a point across to us. The Holy Spirit is a person. Notice that Jesus also told us that we would know Him, The Holy Ghost. Let us look at another scriptures where Jesus is calling the Holy Spirit a HE.

John 16: 13-15 (KJV) 13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. 14 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you. 15 All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

Jesus just said 10 times in a few sentences that the Holy Spirit is a person. Jesus also said He would be our teacher, bring things back to our memory and also Jesus Words from the Bible will come to our memory when we need them.

John 14: 26 (KJV) 26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Jesus also said He would be our teacher, bring things back to our memory and also Jesus Words from the Bible will come to our memory when we need them.

Jesus is wanting us to get to know the person of the Holy Spirt.

When I first gave my life The Lord spoke to me. It was not an audible voice, it was just a knowing in my heart that it was His Voice. He said to me, “ I want you to study about the Holy Spirit. I sent Him down to the earth to help my children and people are ignoring Him.” I told the Lord that minute that I would never ignore the Holy Spirt. How about you?

Spend time in the New Testament and learn more about the Holy Sprit. He is the best friend you will ever have!

The God I Never Knew: How Real Friendship with the Holy Spirit Can Change Your Life

by Robert Morris

Who is the Holy Spirit, and exactly what does He do?

It’s time to experience the Holy Spirit in a fresh, new way—to meet the God you may have never known.

Many people find the Holy Spirit mysterious and confounding. Why is the third person in the Godhead—the one Jesus said would be the believer’s ultimate source of truth and comfort—the source of such confusion?

In The God I Never Knew, Robert Morris clearly explains that the Holy Spirit’s chief desire is for relationship – to offer us the encouragement and guidance of a trusted friend. This insightful and biblically-based book moves beyond theological jargon, religious tradition, and cultural misconceptions to clarify what the Holy Spirit promises to do in your life:

· Dwell within you

· Be your helper

· Guide you into all truth

· Comfort you

· Pray for you

· Show you things to come

· Never leave you
